Hi! My name is Vanesa.
“That’s What V Said” started as a weekly opinion column I wrote for Old Dominion University’s student newspaper (in Norfolk, Va.), The Mace & Crown, when I was Editor in Chief during my 2009-2010 academic year. I turned “That’s What V Said” into a blog in May 2010.
My blog is a mix of rants and raves from my head to the web along with journalistic pieces (mostly band/musician profiles). Some of these journalistic musician profiles were published in AltDaily.com and Examiner.com.
I graduated from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism (in NYC) in December 2012. I have included journalistic pieces on here that I have done for CUNY (written and web video pieces). I interned for the New York Daily News in the summer of 2012 and reported in the Bronx office and for the city desk. I’ve included NYDN articles in here as well.
My “Beach Bum in the Big Apple” spiels… basically, they are a series of “diary” entries about my experiences living in NYC as a Virginia Beach local. And I love living here!
